The EFL Kick-Off: Which GBE/ESC signings will stand out in 2026/27?
The GBE Expert Hub team have their say about some of the non-domestic business in the EFL at the kick-off of the season
It is always a big day when the magnificent EFL kicks off for a new campaign.
Wolves v Blackburn Rovers is the opening fixture, which was also a fixture in the first ever Football League season in 1888, ending 2-2 that day, so this seems a very fitting fixture to begin with.
There will also be plenty of foreign talent on show at Molineux, albeit neither Wolves nor Blackburn have added much from global markets this summer.
Blackburn have suffered from the U23 only for an ESC slot rule change, whereas Wolves have had to concentrate on sales rather than recruitment at this stage. Wolves also have no ESC slots to use due to their already overwhelming reliance on non-domestic players.

But who do we think will go on to have an impact, positive or negative, for their new EFL clubs this season?
Craig Bradley, our Head of Scouting, and a few other members of the team, contribute their opinions on the new blood.
