Who are the top K1 League free agents this January?
Ross Davis has done some profiling of interesting players that are coming to the end of their current deals.
Andy Watson: I asked Ross to write this piece because we have reached that time of the year where January is just around the corner, and there are contracts expiring in certain leagues.
South Korea is one of those countries who have their contracts expiring at the end of December, and because the K1 League became a Band 5 league in the summer of 2023, as long as a player has made five league appearances within the last two years, they are ESC eligible.
This means that a Premier League or EFL club could sign one of these players into their playing squad as long as they have at least one ESC slot available to use.
This could be a really cost-effective way of boosting your current squad, without breaking the bank.
There will be a number of these pieces coming your way in the next few weeks as we look globally at who is coming out of contract in the summer leagues, but Ross begins with the K1 League.
