All you need to know about the new-look Champions League draw - BBC Newsround

Andy Watson: We all know about the stars of the Champions League, but at The GBE Expert Hub, we are far more interested in the players who wouldn’t usually get the number of GBE points required for a UK move, but could be availabe for a short window due to their Champions League exploits.

If you are a regular GBEEH reader then you will be familiar with the fact that the UEFA Champions League is a Continental Band 1 competition, which brings with it a high number of GBE points, especially for regular players, but also for fringe players.

This means that whist it may seem unlikely for someone playing in the league phase of the UCL to consider moving to the EFL, we have seen many do it in the past, and also, there are some teams in this season’s competiton who would probably get a decent raise in salary with a move to the second tier of English football.

These are the key figures to bear in mind. If a player plays every CL minute, even if they get knocked out in the league phase, then they would have 15 GBE points, therefore would qualify for a work permit directly, regardless of which domestic band they played in.
