The EFL Championship will need to change: How the ESC U23 rule will affect recruitment

One of the major changes in the new GBE rules will have a huge impact on how some clubs recruit, and have a minor impact on others

Today is when the new GBE and ESC rules come into force. I have already done overviews of the changes in the men’s players, the men’s staff, and in the women’s game too.

The major changes have come primarily for the men’s game, and for the players specifically.

I will deal with the GBE banding changes in a separate article later this week, but for now I want to concentrate on what I believe will have the bigger impact, the change that means that ESC is now only available for players under the age of 23.
