After a short winter pause, the Belgian Pro League resumes at a stage of the season where small decisions can have disproportionate consequences. January recruitment in Belgium is rarely about volume. It is about timing, judgement, and risk management. Clubs are either protecting league position, preparing for summer exits, or attempting to extract value before contracts begin to dictate terms.
The transfer window opened on 5 January and closes on 2 February. Early business once again highlights a familiar pattern. Belgian clubs continue to operate primarily as value creators rather than value retainers.
