We discovered in Part 1 of this investigation into Scotland that there was a big difference in the way that the SFA was dealing with GBE applications, and, in turn, this massively affected the way that Scottish clubs, especially in the Premiership, were conducting their business.

Every single Scottish constituency voted to Remain in the Brexit referendum back in 2016.
One of the side effects of this, as quoted in the article above, is that deals between Scottish Premiership teams are more often free transfers, or very low tariff amounts, to the extent that the Premiership is only 30th in the list of leagues that make money from fees from their own clubs.
How much of an issue that is, we will look into in this piece. It is interesting that Scotland is consistently ranked well in the UEFA coefficients, indeed, ranked much higher than other leagues with comparable populations and GDP, but there is a huge difference between the money made by the clubs in those other leagues.
This is clearly a complex and multi-faceted issue, and there is certainly no silver bullet solution to it. However, it is of interest to delve into the data and completely understand where we are at in terms of the current situation.
