An elite defensive midfielder in the making? Twelve months left on his deal, who should be on alert for this Netherlands youth international?

It has been a landmark week for Go Ahead Eagles. They won the KNVB Cup for the first time in their history with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over AZ Alkmaar. It was the historic club’s first major trophy in 92 years.

One player who has been integral to their domestic success is Enric Llansana. The Tarragona born defensive midfielder, hence the Catalan surname, is a Netherlands native and has great pedigree, having come through the Ajax system and represented the Netherlands at every age category from U15 to U19.

However, he was judged to be dispensible to Ajax in 2022 and was picked up by Go Ahead Eagles. Performances since then have gone from strength to strength, culminating in this remarkable personal, and team, season.
